When you're in the desert, you stare into infinity...

The name Terlingua derives from two Spanish words, tres and lenguas, meaning “three tongues”. Some think the name refers to the three forks you can find in the ghost town. Nick and I have worked side by side for many years and I noticed him frequenting Terlingua.  More than that, I noticed him hiding in desolate places, traveling as far as he could drive to still make it back to work by Monday at 8am, staying up all night to take photos. I started prodding into the 'why' and found some profound head-space there.  In the desert, for Nick, your consciousness rises which means more to him than taking beautiful or hard-to-get photos. He is seeking moments of peace and clarity… which he finds in the desert… and in the middle of the night.
